It's Because of Your Parents

I’m not a mom but I once was a child, and I see how my parents' choices made me who I am today.
👀
I see traces of who my friends' parents were.
😳
Let that sink in.
♥️
To some of us our parents are heroes, people we strive to be like, and to some of us, our parents are the “anti-heroes,” the people we want to be nothing like.
👨👩👧
It’s mind-blowing discovering direct correlations between your childhood and your decisions as an adult. What you believe to be the norm isn’t, and what seems so wrong in your eyes it’s normal to others.
💐
As a kid who was a result of a failed relationship, who then became a stepchild to the man my mom married.
The kid who after being in a way “taken-in” by her stepdad and his family then becomes a sister to the results/children of more relationships.
Then daughter to a single parent of two.
As the child with what many of you call “half-brother/sisters” I stand here able to relate not to you the parents, but to them, the children.
And before I become one of you, I feel the duty to remind us of the many ways your actions and decisions shape your children your stepchildren and your adopted children.
To the kids of:
- Single parents
- Adopting parents
- Stepparents
- Homosexual parents
- Heterosexual parents
- Divorced parents
- Parents who stayed together and fought all the time
- Parents who were never home
- Parents in Polygamous Relationships
know that your parents' actions are a result of what they saw growing up. Identify what this is doing to you, and learn to make the most out of your experiences, see the cup half full not half empty. Run with the good, and make the wrongs right!
I’m here for you!
