The difference between a Makeup Artist and a YouTube Beauty Guru

Many people consider a Makeup Guru from Youtube or a "Youtuber" the same thing as a Makeup Artist, consequently the terms Makeup Artist and Makeup Guru/Youtuber are used interchangeably, but these are not the same.
A Makeup Guru/Youtuber has tons of advice and product recommendations /reviews on things they use on themselves and work for them (and/or people with similar features or concerns as them) but unless this Makeup Guru/Youtuber is a "Working" (or former) Makeup Artist the chances of them knowing how to work with many different skin tones face shapes and skin concerns are slim.
The difference is that a Makeup Artist knows how to work with all if not many different skin tones, face shapes, and understands how to tackle/cover a vast amount of skin concerns like Rosacea, discoloration, oiliness, blemishes etcetera. In summary a Makeup Artist knows what works specifically for you.
I don't discredit Beauty Gurus, but I do recommend that their suggestions are considered when they apply to YOU.
The Value of a Hiring an Excellent Makeup Artist
Never underestimate the value of a Makeup Artist. We hire them because we can't do what they do, in the time they do it. Not a Photographer not your in-Law or little sister can do the job. And even though some people may have some knowledge of makeup application, none of them will be able to deliver quite what a Makeup Artist can.
Hope this was very helpful, please share with people who are considering being or Hiring a Makeup Artist.
